A look back at our 2010 Predictions

April 15th, 2010

Well the first quarter of the year is now in the review mirror and we thought we would take a look back at our 2010 predictions we made in December.

These were the predictions…and the current status in italics

1.  At least one, if not two major athletic shoe companies will open on Newbury Street.  Converse will be opening at 348 Newbury Street

2.  The Pottery Barn space will be occupied by a major UK retailer.  All Saints will be opening in the spring/summer in the Pottery Barn space

3.  The UK invasion of Newbury Street will continue as additional UK based and/or themed retailers open.  Jack Wills (www.jackwills.com) to open at 179 Newbury Street this fall.

4.  Diane Von Furstenberg will open a store on Newbury Street. DVF will be opening this spring/summer at 73 Newbury Street.

5.  While there will be the usual new vacancies during the first quarter of 2010, by year end, Newbury Street will be over 95% occupied.  Our current estimates put the Street at 94.7% occupied.

6.  The Boston Globe will actually publish a positive article about Newbury Street (ok…we can all wish)!  Ok, we are still waiting, but they haven’t written anything negative either!

It seems like we are off to a pretty good start with our predictions…maybe we will make some more for the rest of the year.

Stay tuned!
