Electronic Arts will open pop-up store on Newbury Street

Bostonians will have a free workout space to help get rid of those extra pounds packed on during the holiday season.

On Monday, video game publisher Electronic Arts will convert an empty storefront at 156 Newbury St. into a free workout space where visitors can test EA Sports Active, a “personal trainer in a box” fitness product for the Nintendo Wii.

The so-called “pop-up” training center will be open for a month, and there’s no limit on how many times people can visit. Visitors can test EA Sports Active on the spot or borrow a copy to try at home.
